Who I Am

I am currently a freshman at Berea College, in the small town of Berea, KY. 

I have worked with words for as long as I can remember, starting in the fourth grade with writing portfolios and eventually moving onto short stories and then poetry.  In 2007 I attended the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts for Creative Writing, and from 2006 to 2008 I was in the SCAPA program at Lafyette Senior High School.

My personal history is filled with twists and turns, whether it's been my disposition for changing schools, two suicide attempts, multiple false-starts on a novel, or late night trips to Waffle House with my friend Greg.  I believe in sadness and I believe in laughter, but I don't believe hate. Although I am not the most religious person, I do believe in God. 

I love music, comic books, and movies which make me feel alive.  Unlike most people who just say it, I really do love music of all kinds.  There's a massive 40gb collection of songs on my computer, with another 40 gigs I haven't even had a chance to listen to.  My favorite comic books are Watchmen, Good-bye, Chunky Rice, The Dark Knight Returns, and Jimmy Corrigan.  My favorite movies are Children of Men, The Mothman Prophecies, The Host, and The Tracey Fragments.

The inner anarchist in me is a tough skeptic, a conspiracy theorist, a paranormal believer, and a revolutionary.  The inner idealist in me is naive and childish, accidentally honest, and boldly emphatic.  I tend to fluctuate between extreme warmth and cold self-isolation.  I am constantly struggling with my logical and emotional side (with the latter usually coming out on top). 

I love people.

Very few things bother me, except for my bad skin and people purposefully hurting other people.  I tend to laugh loudly and cough at inappropriate times.  I enjoy unbearbly cheesy jokes, bubbles, and weather of all seasons.
